Solar Observations
Safe solar observations using a dedicated HA Solar telescope to observe Solar Prominences, Solar Flares, Filaments and Granulation. Observing the sun provides a unique opportunity to learn about solar phenomena and understand the forces that drive our solar system. From sunspots to solar flares, the sun’s surface is teeming with activity that can be observed safely through our specialized equipment.
Live Stacking
Live stacking is a technique in astrophotography that combines multiple short-exposure images in real-time, resulting in a clearer and more detailed view of celestial objects. This innovative approach allows us to reveal the beauty of the night sky like never before.

Leonardo took us on a wonderful tour of the night sky nr Prince Albert recently. There's no struggle finding exact points of interest using his really sophisticated computer-controlled telescope combined with his excellent knowledge of our night skies. His enthusiasm is infectious! And for those with more human interest, he throws in a bit of folklore to have one look a little more closely to identify aspects of the stories hes told! Really worthwhile.
We wanted to do a stargazing tour in Oudtshoorn on our trip to South Africa and that's when I came across Leonardo on the internet. Contacting us via WhatsApp was super easy and we immediately arranged an appointment for him to come to our accommodation with the telescope - very practical. We had a really nice and interesting evening and can recommend the tour! Good value for money. We also received a nice certificate, thank you very much!

Most notably were your knowledge, commitment, and personal enthusiasm which excited and inspired us greatly. Your professional equipment and detailed explanation when viewing through the telescope and at the same time perform live photo stacking was really amazing. To not only see stars but also nebula, planets like Neptune and moons of Saturn is something else. Prince Albert is a wonderful location as it is so dark at night like almost nowhere else on Earth. Leonardo visited us while we (Fifteen Grade 8 - 11 kids) were camping just outside Oudtshoorn. He did a “Sterrekunde” short course with the kids and wow! It was brilliant and left us amazed. Leonardo (Night Sky Tours, Oudtshoorn) came to our home to do a night sky presentation on the ‘wonders above us in the sky’ – what a fantastic and incredible experience – it was indeed an out of this world experience, our eyes were opened to the usually ‘unseen world’ for so many people, and this experience most certainly ignited a desire in us all to do more stargazing. We thoroughly enjoyed the stars and special features in the sky Leonardo highlighted and showed us with his telescope. His passion and enthusiasm added more significance to the wonder we admired in the sky – Leonardo clearly has a huge passion for astronomy and obtains a vast knowledge he loves to share. We had the Night Sky Tour experience on January 2024 while we were in Oudtshoorn. Leonard was extremely attentive with my daughters and answered all of their questions, from the ones revolving the telescope to the ones about astronomy. We saw the moon, Saturn, Jupiter, and recognized some constellations! It's a very enriching experience, we had a wonderful time!
It was a great experience beyond our expectation. We saw stars, planets and galaxies and all our questions were answered. Leonardo is very passionate about astronomy and puts a lot of effort into the tour. We spontaneously got a private session in Oudtshoorn. For the unbeatable price, we would definitely do it again.
